LAWTON – Oklahoma Baptist (10-10) lost both games of a doubleheader on Wednesday against Cameron University (9-9) at McMahon Field. The Aggies won two close affairs, 4-3 and 9-8.
Next on the schedule for the Bison is a GAC doubleheader at East Central on March 7 starting at 1 p.m.
GAME ONE
The green and gold rallied from a 2-0 deficit before falling in the bottom of the seventh.
After Cameron scored twice in the second frame, OBU clawed back to tie the game at 3-3.
In the third, senior
Sammie Greene drew a bases-loaded walk which plated
Haley Hacker, moving the scoreboard to 2-1. Then in the fifth, the Bison were aided by an RBI single from
Hailey Stanford and sacrifice fly from
Ally Ryan. That latter sequence pushed Stanford across home for the tying run.
OBU had a chance to take a lead in the top of the sixth with two on and two out, but Cameron got a tagout at home to keep the score at 3-3.
Then in the seventh, Haley Gardella's single up the middle plated Payton Dickerson for the walk-off victory.
GAME TWO
OBU trailed 9-2 after four innings but nearly rallied, scoring six straight runs over the fifth and six frames. Among the highlights were RBI doubles by Stanford and Greene in the fifth as well as a two-run bomb by Ryan that frame.
Plus, freshman
Kaylee Davis delivered a two-run shot in the sixth which turned out to be OBU's final runs of the game.
In the top of the seventh and down one, the Bison were able to get runners on the corners with two out. However, an infield popout to third ended the contest.
