Byrd Named GAC Field Athlete of the Week

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist senior women's track and field member Jade Byrd was named Great American Conference Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.

The honor comes after the Stratford, Okla., native won a pair of events last weekend during the Bethel College Invite in Kansas.

During the discus competition, she earned first place with a throw of 48.02 meters. That currently ranks second in Division II and was an NCAA Provisional mark. Byrd also captured first place in the hammer throw, reaching 50.78 meters.
