ARKADELPHIA, Arkansas – OBU Baseball drops Games 1 and 2 to the Tigers in day one of weekend action.
Oklahoma Baptist Baseball fell short in the first pair of games to OUA with a 1-0 final in Game 1 and a 4-3 final in the second game, closing out the day for the Tigers, 2-0.
Game 1
The OKB offense struggle offensively in the first game with only four hits. \
Matt Marsic led the green and gold at 2-5 at the plate.
Keenan Morris had a hit for OKB finishing the game 1-3 at the plate.
Spencer Dickinson had the other hit for the Bison, finishing 1-2 at the plate.
Oklahoma Baptist left a total of 10 runners on base with 11 total strikeouts in 30 at bats.
David Stuart (L, 4-3) took the loss for OKB with 5.0 innings pitched, giving up the only run of the game to the Tigers. Stuart gave up six hits, walked one runner and totaled six strikeouts on the day.
Logan Kimbro came in to close for the Bison with 3.0 innings on the mound, giving up no runs, one hits, no walks and three strikeouts.
Game 2
In the second game the Bison found some momentum at the plate totaling three runs, but a tough inning on the mound made room for the Tigers to take Game 2 with a four-run seventh inning for a 4-3 final in favor of the home team.
The green and gold were first to attack with a
Jayden Shafer bomb in the third stanza. The top of the sixth saw another pair across for OKB for a 3-0 lead. In the bottom of the seventh, the Tigers got their way with four runs across, solidifying the series with back-to-back wins.
The Bison totaled three runs on four hits with one homer from Shafer to lead the offensive efforts for OKB. Marsic had the lone stolen base for the green and gold.
William Ellis (L, 1-3) took the loss for the Bison after 0.0 innings on the mound, giving up four earned runs on one hit, walking three batters with no strikeouts.
Bryant Thornton got the start with 4.2 innings pitched, giving up no runs on two hits, walking two batters and totaling six strikeouts.
Jalen Johnston went 1.1 innings on the bump, giving up no runs, no hits, walking two runners and finishing with one strikeout.
Nick Meyer shut things down for the green and gold with 0.1 inning on the mound, giving up no runs on one hit, walking one batter and totaling one strikeout.
The series finale will begin at noon on Saturday as the Bison look for redemption in Arkadelphia.
