Bison Baseball ends weekend at Ouachita Baptist with big win

ARKADELPHIA, Arkansas – OBU Baseball closes out the weekend on the road with a big win over the Tigers to fend off a sweep.

Oklahoma Baptist Baseball finishes the weekend in Arkadelphia with a huge 21-9, finding the missing runs from the first day of play in the series finale.

After failing to find their way offensively in Friday's doubleheader, the Bison got to work in Game 3. The home team was first on the board with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. OKB followed suit with three in the top of the second. Another three were added for the Tigers in the bottom of the third along with a solo run in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The green and gold got back to work with two runs in the top of the sixth as the home team added another single run in the bottom of the inning for an 8-5 lead over OKB. The top of the sixth saw five runs come across for the Bison. In the seventh inning, each team tacked on a run and the eighth went scoreless across the board. A massive ten-run inning from Oklahoma Baptist put the Tigers to shame with a 21-9 final for the final.

The Bison posted 21 runs on 16 hits with one error as the home team finished with nine runs on 12 hits with five errors.

Lucas Schaefer did what Lucas Schaefer does with not one but two homeruns to lead Oklahoma Baptist. Schaefer finished the day with eight RBI, two runs scored and a 3-5 day at the plate.

Zane Bennett also contributed to the homerun total for OKB, going 3-5 at the plate with three runs scored, one RBI and one double.

Keenan Morris was a big piece of the offensive puzzle for the Bison with four RBI with a 3-7 mark at the plate, three runs scored and a double.

Matt Marsic had the lone triple for the green and gold, totaling three RBI and finished 2-5 at the plate with two runs scored.

Braden Smith and Jesse Tisdell each added an RBI for OKB as Smith went 1-5 at the plate with one run scored and Tisdell went 0-2 at the plate with three runs scored. The pair also tallied three stolen bases on the day with one from Bennett and two from Tisdell.

Marcus Peters (W, 3-0) got the win after coming in from the bullpen, going 4.0 innings on the bump. Peters gave up two earned runs on four hits, two walking and claimed two strikeouts.

Javarian Roquemore (S,1) earned his first win after closing things out for OKB with 2.0 innings pitched, giving up no runs, one hits, no walks and three strikeouts.

Ryan Turbeville got the start for the Bison, going 3.0 innings, giving up seven earned runs on seven hits, walking two and striking out three.

The Game 3 win over Ouachita Baptist moves the green and gold to 17-11 overall and 10-8 in conference play.

Up next for Oklahoma Baptist is a midweek with Northeastern State in Shawnee. The Tuesday night matchup will see a 5 p.m. first pitch.
