SHAWNEE – OBU Baseball were overtaken by the Bulldogs in Tuesday's midweek action.
Bison Baseball faced a tough heavily offensive SWOSU, seeing the Bulldogs batter the Bison with a 20-10 final in seven innings of play.
SWOSU finished the evening with 20 runs on 19 hits and a couple errors as OBU totaled 10 runs on 11 hits with four errors.
The green and gold finished the night with two homers, one triple, one double, nine RBI and eight runners left on base.
SWOSU got to work early with four runs in the opening frame. The Bison stayed on pace with the pressure from the visitors, tallying five runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead.
A scoreless top of the second for the Bulldogs made room for the green and gold to maintain their momentum, adding another four runs to the board. The visitors got back to work in the top of the third with another four runs coming across, closing the OBU lead to one run. The Bison were silences in the next four innings as the Bulldogs had their way, adding three in the fourth, and four in the fifth to gain a big 15-9 lead over the home team. The sixth inning went scoreless across the board but five runs in the seventh from SWOSU ultimately laid down the Bison as the final run came across for OBU in the bottom of the seventh.
Zane Bennett led the offensive charge for OBU with a homer and a triple totaling five RBI on the evening, going 3-4 at the plate and scoring one run himself.
Jesse Tisdell also had a homer, finishing the night 1-2 at the plate with one RBI.
Keenan Morris contributed a double, going 1-4 at the plate, scoring two runs.
Spencer Dickinson went 2-3 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBI.
David Piers (L, 0-1) took his first loss of the season after 1.0 innings on the mound, giving up six runs (five earned) on four hits, walking one and striking out one.
Marcus Peters went 1.0 inning on bump, giving up four runs (two earned) on five hits with two strikeouts.
Jalen Johnston went 2.0 innings giving up four earned runs on five hits, giving up one walk and one strikeout.
Ayden Wood made an appearance after Piers, totaling 2.0 innings, giving up one earned run on two hits, walking on batter and striking out three.
Tyler Biggs totaled 1.0 innings pitched, giving up five runs (four earned) on three hits, walking three and striking out one.
Next up for the Bison is a road trip to Arkadelphia, Arkansas. The green and gold will face Ouachita Baptist with a doubleheader on Friday with the first pitch scheduled for noon and Game 2 to follow. Saturday will see the conclusion of the three-game series with a 12 p.m. first pitch.
