Bison Baseball takes series over UAM with big offensive performance in Game 3

SHAWNEE – OBU Baseball pulled out a big eight-run win over the Weevils to claim the series in the second day of action in Ford Park.

Oklahoma Baptist Baseball had an incredible day offensively with a huge 19-11 victory over Arkansas-Monticello. 

The green and gold compiled 19 runs on 17 hits. With 17 RBI on the day, the Bison totaled four home runs, one triple, and four doubles. 

Lucas Schaefer led OBU with his fifth homer of the season, his first triple of the year, a double and a pair of RBI. Schaefer went 3-5 at the plate, scoring three runs on the day.

DJ Van Atten was another big contributor, earning his first homer in the green and gold, and a double to lead the
Bison in RBI with five on the day. Van Atten was 3-6 at the plate with three runs.

Braden Smith also left the yard for the first time in his collegiate career, going 1-2 at the plate with a total of three RBI and three runs scored. 

Spencer Dickinson made his return to the game this weekend against UAM. In Game 3, Dickinson earned his first homer of the season and hot his groove back with his first couple of hits to go 2-5 at the plate. #9 for the Bison totaled one RBI and one run. 

Jayden Shafer had his best day yet this season offensively with a pair of doubles, and a couple RBI. Shafer went 2-5 at the plate and totaled two runs on the day. 

Schaefer and Keenan Morris tallied the pair of stolen bases for OBU. 

Jalen Johnston (W, 2-0) earned his second win of the season with 1.1 innings on the mound, giving up no runs on no hits, and walking a couple of batters. 

Logan Kimbro (S, 2) got his second save on the season with 1.1 innings on the bump, giving up no runs on no hits, walking a pair and totaling two strikeouts. 

Ryan Turbeville got the start for the Bison with 4.0 innings on the mound, giving up eight runs on nine hits. Turbeville compiled four earned runs while walking a couple and striking out three. 

William Ellis also made an appearance for OBU with 2.1 innings pitched, giving up three earned runs on four hits, walking one and striking out four. 

The win over UAM will move the Bison to 8-5 overall and 3-3 in conference action.

Next up for the green and gold is a midweek meeting in Durant at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. The Feb. 25 matchup will see a 2 p.m. first pitch.
