SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist STUNT secured four wins at home as the host of a weekend tournament on Bison Hill.
The ladies of OBU STUNT were victorious in four of four matches this weekend, bringing their season record to 7-1.
The green and gold opened up the weekend action with a big head-to-head against rival, Davenport University. Previously, the Bison defeated Davenport to earn the 2024 DII National Championship title. The game was nothing short of a nail biter, ending in a 15-13 final for OBU Friday evening.
Saturday's action opened with a 3 p.m. game against Vanguard University where the Bison secured a 20-8 win over the Lions.
Prior to the evening game, the 2024 OBU STUNT team received their National Championship rings. The Bison closed out the night with a matchup against the reigning NAIA National Champions, Jessup University. The 2025 seniors were honored for Senior Night prior to the match but the green and gold quickly got down to business once it was go time.
In the 9:15 p.m. game against Jessup, every routine was a neck and neck battle, ending in favor of Oklahoma Baptist with a close 16-15 final.
In true Oklahoma fashion, unexpected bad weather saw a handful of teams leave the tournament early. The Bison were set to face Drury University at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday but the Drury did not continue their tournament run.
The final game of the tournament saw OBU face Missouri State for the second time this season, ending in another victory for the Bison, 23-2.
''We are proud of the grit and determinations to find wins in each game this weekend. We played some of our toughest competition this weekend and our team continued to battle well every game. We will continue to clean up our routines, perfect our skills and we look forward to carrying this weekend's momentum into next weekend's games'', stated Head Coach Jessica Wolverton.
Next up for OBU is a trip to Bethany Oklahoma on Feb. 22 for three games. The Bison will see a 9 a.m. game against Centenary College, an 11:30 a.m. matchup against Southern Nazarene and one final game at 1 p.m. against Oklahoma State to close out the regular season.
