SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist dominated Southern Nazarene, sweeping the Storm in straight sets (25-11, 25-17, 25-13). The win moved the Bison to 18–8 overall and 10–4 in Great American Conference play with the result.
OBU came out firing in the opening set, setting the tone early with aggressive serving and a balanced offensive attack. The Bison quickly found their rhythm, using a seven-point scoring run behind the serving of
Allie Stricker.
OBU's offense was dominant, keeping SNU's defense on its heels from the start. Within the Bison's first nine points, five different players registered a kill.
Melody Donegan led the attack with five kills in the first set alone, consistently finding gaps in the Storm's defense.
Setter
Emily Boyer directed the offense with precision, recording 12 assists, more than SNU's total points (11) in the set. OBU's execution was sharp across the board, hitting .407 as a team while holding SNU to a .000 percentage, completely shutting down the Storm's offense in the opening frame.
SNU showed more fight in the second set, hitting .258, but it wasn't enough to slow down the Bison's momentum. OBU maintained their control, tallying 17 kills and hitting .275 to finish the set with a 25–17 victory.
In the third stanza, OBU continued to dominate, hitting .292 and controlling play at the net to pull away with a 25–13 victory. The Bison's offensive rhythm never wavered, as the team finished the match with an impressive .319 hitting percentage.
With the standout performance, OBU led in every statistical category, recording 41 kills, eight aces, 45 digs and eight blocks.
Stricker and Donegan powered the offense with 10 kills each, with Stricker also adding six digs and two aces.
Rylee Unruh contributed seven kills and two digs. Boyer orchestrated the offense seamlessly, tallying 32 assists and 14 digs.
Defensively, libero
Karsyn Hunter anchored the back row with 16 digs as the Bison defense limited SNU to a hitting percentage of .098.
The Bison return to action Tuesday, Nov. 11, to host Northwestern Oklahoma State at 6 p.m. inside the Noble Complex.
