OBU Powers Through Northwestern on Senior Night

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist crushed Northwestern Oklahoma State in straight sets (25-13, 25-14, 25-15), closing out their home schedule with a dominant performance inside the Noble Complex on Tuesday.

With the win, the Bison moved to 19-9 overall and 11–4 in Great American Conference play.

OBU came out firing in the opening set, setting the tone with a four-point scoring run that included two aces. The Bison's offense was balanced from the start, as four different players recorded a kill within the first nine points, helping OBU establish control early.

The Bison's attack continued to click throughout the stanza, finishing with an impressive .438 hitting percentage and 17 kills. Defensively, OBU limited NWOSU to just nine kills and a .212 hitting percentage, keeping the Rangers off balance at the net. The Bison were able to secure a 25–13 victory in the opening frame.

In the second set, the Bison continued to control the match. OBU held a 15–10 lead before pulling away with a dominant six-point scoring run, pushing ahead 21–10.

The Bison's offense remained steady, hitting .301 with 18 kills, while their defense held the Rangers attack to just a .029 hitting percentage and five total kills. Despite a few errors that allowed the Rangers to pick up points, OBU's consistency and control carried them to a 25–14 win in the second.

In the third, OBU fell behind 9–4 early but used a powerful attack, strong defense, and a successful challenge to swing the momentum and regain control. The Bison closed the frame on a dominant run, winning 25–15 to secure the 3-0 sweep.

Melody Donegan led the Bison with 14 kills on a .385 hitting percentage. Allie Stricker tallied nine kills while Mackenzie Frazee contributed seven kills on a .875 hitting percentage. Plus, Rylee Unruh in two sets played totaled six kills, 11 digs and a trio of aces.

Setter Emily Boyer orchestrated the offense with precision, collecting 37 assists, three aces and 22 digs. The Bison defense was solid, holding the Rangers to just a .049 hitting percentage.

Oklahoma Baptist returns to action on Thursday in Ada to take on the East Central Tigers at 6 p.m.
