SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Oklahoma Baptist battled defensively throughout a low-scoring matchup but struggled to generate fourth-quarter offense in a 50–44 loss to unbeaten St. Mary's on Saturday at Bill Greehey Arena. The Bison led at multiple points and held the Rattlers to just 34 percent shooting, but a decisive 13–5 final period swung the result.
OBU opened strong, racing out to a 13–4 advantage behind threes from
Katelyn Davis and
Faith Wright, along with a transition finish from
Parker Stevenson. The Bison defense forced seven ties and five lead changes throughout the contest, keeping St. Mary's uncomfortable despite the home team's rebounding edge.
The second quarter featured timely perimeter shooting as
Jordyn Anderson and Davis knocked down threes to extend OBU's lead to 19–11. St. Mary's responded with an 8–0 run to close the half, sending the teams to the locker room tied 24–24.
After halftime, OBU again found momentum.
Jaedyn Getman connected on a midrange jumper and a deep three, while Wright added another triple to tie the game at 32–32. Stevenson gave the Bison a 39–37 edge late in the third with a tip-in, but St. Mary's answered with clutch shooting from Aina Maynou and steady inside play from Christin Callens.
In the fourth, OBU's offense stalled, shooting just 1-for-13 from the field. Callens delivered two key baskets in the paint, part of her game-high 13 points alongside Maynou's 13. Despite two late free throws from Getman that cut the deficit to 47–44 with 28 seconds left, the Rattlers closed out the win.
Stevenson led OBU with nine points, while Getman added eight points and seven rebounds. The Bison (4–2) hit nine 3-pointers but finished 25 percent from the field overall.
Conference play is next for OBU. They head to Arkansas-Monticello on Dec. 4 for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
