Well-Balanced Attack Leads Bison over Lions

PITTSBURG, Kan. -- Oklahoma Baptist (3-0) remained unbeaten with a complete offensive showing, riding four double-figure scorers to a 94–82 win over Missouri Southern State on Thursday at John Lance Arena. The Bison shot an even 51 percent in the first half and never trailed over the final 27 minutes, building a double-digit lead before holding off several Lions surges down the stretch.

Terry Coner Jr. and Jackson Greene powered the Bison with matching 22-point performances. Coner was aggressive all night, finishing 9-of-15 from the floor while adding five assists and five steals. Greene delivered a near double-double with nine rebounds and consistently provided timely buckets, including a pair of key layups early in the second half to restore momentum after the Lions trimmed the margin to four.

Joshua Udoumoh added 17 points and eight rebounds, knocking down three of OBU's five three-pointers. Seth Grandberry and Erik Madrid supplied steady contributions, scoring nine points apiece, while Christian Hodge gave the Bison a valuable spark off the bench with eight points, four rebounds and three steals.

OBU controlled the paint throughout, outscoring Missouri Southern 56–40 inside and collecting 16 second-chance points behind a 41–37 rebounding edge. The Bison also turned 20 Lions turnovers into 22 points, converting several into transition baskets during a pivotal 21–10 first-half run.

MSSU (2–1) was led by standout Jaden Taylor, who poured in a game-high 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting and added four assists. Gavyn Elkamil scored 21 points and hit three second-half threes that briefly tightened the game, but the Lions never drew closer than four after halftime. Storm Gilchrist chipped in eight points and eight boards off the bench.

A late 7–0 OBU burst, capped by consecutive scores from Greene and Coner, pushed the lead to 15 with under three minutes left and effectively sealed the road victory.

Tomorrow at 6 p.m., the Bison will look to knock off the host Pittsburg State Gorillas who defeated Maryville (Mo.) earlier on Thursday by a 93-66 count.
