Bison Rally Past Pittsburg State

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Oklahoma Baptist stayed unbeaten after a hard-fought 76-72 win over Pittsburg State on Friday evening at John Lance Arena in the Pitt State Classic.

The Bison (4-0) rallied from a two-point halftime deficit (43-41) with a strong defensive effort and clutch free throws late. OBU held the Gorillas to just 25.8 percent shooting in the second half while scoring 35 points of their own to secure the victory.

Terry Coner Jr. led the way with a season-high 26 points, hitting 8-of-17 from the field and 8-of-10 at the stripe. He added three steals and two assists in 37 minutes. Joshua Udoumoh contributed 16 points and eight rebounds, while Erik Madrid was nearly perfect inside, scoring 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting and blocking two shots.

OBU dominated the paint with 50 points inside, outrebounded Pitt State 42-31, and got key bench production from Christian Hodge (9 points, 6 rebounds). The game featured 16 lead changes and six ties before Coner Jr. sealed it with two free throws in the final seconds.

For Pittsburg State, Mason English scored 17 points and dished seven assists, while Connor Rogers added 15.

The Bison return home for the OBU Thanksgiving Classic at the Noble Complex, hosting Emporia State on Nov. 28 (3 PM) and Newman on Nov. 29 (7 PM).
