Strong Third Quarter Propels Bison to Win

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist (2-1) returned to action on Tuesday, hosting Eastern New Mexico in a non-conference matchup in the Noble Complex. A 30-point third quarter, headlined by a half-dozen threes helped the Bison win 93-85.

Among the key stats, OBU's bench tallied 31 points, highlighted by Parker Stevenson's 17. Plus, the Bison were 28-of-33 from the foul line, an 84.8 percent clip. The team's 28 freebies were a season-high too.

OBU started the game strong, finishing the first with a 24–21 lead over ENMU. The Greyhounds answered in the second quarter, outscoring OBU 23–15 to take a 44–39 lead into halftime.

Eastern New Mexico had a plus-six (10-4) offensive rebound advantage in the opening half, which aided them to a 10-2 second-chance points advantage. For the hosts, despite make just two of nine from deep in the opening half, its 15-of-18 clip at the foul line kept things close.

Senior Jaedyn Getman led OBU in the first half with 13 points.

The third quarter shifted the momentum for OBU, as the Bison came back from a 10-point deficit thanks to 30 points scored in the period. The green and gold knocked down half of their 12 three-pointers including one from Stevenson on a Getman pass at the 3:21 mark.

In the final quarter, the Bison tallied 24 points compared to ENMU's 18. Free throws were crucial in the fourth as the hosts made nine of 10. Brenna Butler, Stevenson and Getman all made multiple freebies to eventually push the final tally to 93-85.

Getman led the offensive efforts for the Bison with 27 points on the evening going 9-of-14 from the field, 3-of-6 from the three and 6-6 from the line. She also tallied four rebounds, two assists and one steal.

Stevenson was the second leading scorer with 17 points, shooting 5-of-10 while making some important threes in the third. The junior guard also registered five rebounds and four assists.

Furthermore, Jordyn Anderson scored 15, a season-high, while Butler finished with 12.

Next up, OBU will travel to Richardson, Texas, to face UT Dallas on Saturday, November 22, at 2 p.m.
