Getman's Career Night Not Enough as Bison Fall to Northeastern State

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Oklahoma Baptist opened its 2025-26 season with a hard-fought battle against Northeastern State, ultimately falling 83-77 at the Pioneer Event Center on Friday afternoon.
The game featured 12 ties and 11 lead changes, with both teams trading momentum throughout. OBU started strong, shooting 61.5 percent in the first quarter to match NSU at 20-20. However, a cold second frame (23.5 percent) allowed the RiverHawks to build a 43-31 halftime advantage.

The Bison roared back in the third, fueled by a barrage of threes from Katelyn Davis and Faith Wright, trimming the deficit to 61-58 entering the final period. Despite pulling within one at 65-63 early in the fourth, NSU capitalized at the free-throw line down the stretch, converting 10-of-10 in the final quarter to seal the win.

Jaedyn Getman delivered a career performance, pouring in 45 points on 15-of-26 shooting while going a perfect 12-for-12 at the stripe. She added nine rebounds and three assists. Her effort is the third best scoring performance in OBU women's program history. Davis chipped in 11 points with three triples, while Jordyn Anderson scored nine and grabbed two boards. Brenna Butler paced the offense with six assists.

As a team, OBU shot 43.3 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from deep, highlighted by a 27-point third quarter. The Bison also went 16-of-18 at the line (88.9 percent). NSU countered with 46.7 percent shooting and a near-perfect 95.2 percent at the stripe.

Oklahoma Baptist (0-1) will look to bounce back tomorrow against Rogers State at 3 pm.
