BETHANY, Okla. – Oklahoma Baptist tipped off its 2025-26 campaign defeating Northern State 83-72 on Friday night at the Sawyer Center.

The Bison set the tone early, shooting a blistering 60.7 percent in the first half to build a 41-32 lead at the break. OBU dominated the paint and pushed the tempo, converting second-chance opportunities into points while holding Northern State to 37.5 percent shooting before halftime.

In the second half, Northern State trimmed the margin to single digits on multiple occasions, but clutch baskets and timely free throws kept the Bison in control. OBU finished the night with 48 points in the paint and 18 second-chance points, showcasing its physical presence inside.

Jackson Greene led the charge with 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting, adding seven rebounds and five offensive boards. Joshua Udoumoh was equally impressive, scoring 19 points and pulling down five rebounds. Terry Coner Jr. provided balance with 18 points and three assists, while Erik Madrid chipped in eight points and five boards off the bench.

As a team, Oklahoma Baptist shot 48.5 percent from the field and 65 percent at the line, while limiting Northern State to 41.4 percent overall. The Bison also forced 11 turnovers, converting them into 15 points.

Oklahoma Baptist (1-0) returns to action Saturday against University of Mary at 5:30 pm.
