SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist Bison men's basketball team opens its 2025-26 season on Nov. 14-15 at the GAC/NSIC Conference Challenge hosted by Southern Nazarene. On Friday, OBU plays Northern State at 7:30 p.m. before a Saturday contest against University of Mary at 5:30 p.m.
Todd Miller and Dave Myrick will be on the call of both games on KGFF.
Starting 5 Storylines
Season Tip-Off: These are the first-ever matchups between OBU and both programs. Head Coach
Jason Eaker enters his eighth season with a roster featuring size, athleticism, and experience, aiming to build on last year's competitive finish.
Bison Breakdown: OBU returns key guards who will drive the offense.
Terry Coner Jr., an All-GAC performer, brings scoring and defensive intensity after averaging 16 points last season.
JC Curry adds experience and clutch shooting, while newcomer
Seth Grandberry provides another scoring option after a strong year at Arkansas-Monticello. Together, they give the Bison a versatile backcourt capable of pushing tempo and creating mismatches.
Another Experienced Player: Senior guard
Joshua Udoumoh is another solid backcourt option for the Bison. He's played in 82 career games, averaged nearly 43 percent shooting from the field and is coming off a junior campaign in which he made nearly 79 percent from the foul line. He also dished out 44 assists a season ago.
The Big Man: You can't miss him. He's 7-foot-2 sophomore center
Erik Madrid. He played in 23 games last year, averaged 2.7 minutes per contest and made 61.9 percent from the field (13-of-21). For this coming campaign, the Tulsa, Okla., native is aiming to be more present on the court, as coaches are hoping to get him 15-20 minutes per contest.
Northern State Snapshot: The Wolves struggled last season (2-26 overall), averaging 65.5 points per game while allowing nearly 79. Top returner James Glenn led NSU with 12.8 points per game and hit 67 three-pointers, while Marcus Burks added 11.1 points and a team-high 5.3 rebounds.
University of Mary at a Glance: The Marauders finished 15-15 a season ago, scoring 69.4 points per game and holding opponents to 65.4. They were efficient inside (44.4% FG) and strong defensively, forcing 15 turnovers per game. Kye Robinson (13.7 ppg) and Jay Randall (13.1 ppg) headline the attack.
What's Next: After this weekend, OBU heads to the Pittsburg State Classic (Nov. 20-21) before hosting the Thanksgiving Classic in Shawnee. Great American Conference play begins Dec. 4 at Arkansas-Monticello.
