SEARCY, Ark. — Oklahoma Baptist couldn't slow down second-ranked Harding on Saturday, falling 69-0 at First Security Stadium. The loss dropped the Bison to 2-7 overall and in Great American Conference play, while Harding remained unbeaten (9-0).
The hosts scored on their first two possessions and never looked back, piling up 654 yards of total offense with 506 coming on the ground. Andrew Miller led Harding with 143 rushing yards and three touchdowns, while quarterback Cole Keylon added 34 yards and two scores on the ground and threw for another. Braden Jay caught a 79-yard touchdown pass and also ran for 80 yards.
Harding led 14-0 after the first, extended it to 42-0 by halftime, and scored eight rushing touchdowns overall. HU's defense was equally dominant, limiting OBU to 224 total yards and forcing four turnovers, including a 15-yard interception return for a touchdown by Clark Griffin in the second stanza.
Quarterbacks
Brady Bricker and
Drew Denton combined for 131 passing yards for Oklahoma Baptist.
Garrett Vaughn led the receiving corps with 32 yards on four catches, while
Caden Peevey sparked the ground game with a 40-yard run among his 45 rushing yards. Defensively,
Caleb Giles recorded a team-high 11 tackles and
Jahden Brown and
Jackson Copeland each added 10 stops.
Oklahoma Baptist returns home next week to host Arkansas Tech on Nov. 8 at 2 p.m.
