EDMOND, Okla. – OBU Baseball fell short against the Pittsburg State Gorillas in the opening round of the UCO Festival.
The Bison went head-to-head with the Gorillas Friday afternoon to open up the 2025 campaign on the road at the UCO Festival.
A tough 7-1 final in favor of Pittsburg State saw the green and gold suffer their first loss of the season.
Oklahoma Baptist compiled one run on six hits while Pittsburg State totaled seven runs on eight hits. The lone run for the green and gold came in the form of a homer from
Lucas Schaefer and
Braden Smith tallied the only double for OBU.
Schaefer led the team with three hits while Smith,
Keenan Morris and
Jesse Tisdell each had a single hit to total six hits for the Bison.
David Stuart took the loss with 4.1 innings on the mound, giving up four hits, and three runs. Stuart walked three and struck out six.
Jalen Johnston went 2.1 innings on the bump, giving up three runs on three hits, walking one and striking out two.
Javarian Roquemore went 1.1 inning giving up one run and one hit.
Schaefer's bomb came in the seventh inning making the first mark on the board for the green and gold.
Next up for the Bison is a matchup against Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m.
