Bison Women’s Basketball drop first game of Arkansas trip to Southern Arkansas

MAGNOLIA, Arkansas – OBU Women's Basketball faced a tough two-point loss to the Muleriders after battling back from a double-digit deficit.

The ladies in green and gold took on Southern Arkansas Thursday evening in Magnolia. The loss to SAU brings an even 1-1 record on the season between the Bison and the Muleriders. 

At the conclusion of the first stanza, the Bison trailed the home team by a couple of points with a 16-14 total for SAU. Headed into halftime, the Muleriders had extended the lead to 34-23. The third frame saw the visitors come back with 16 points to the home teams 13. The final quarter of action saw things pick up in favor of the green and gold, totaling 17 points, but ultimately the Bison were a couple of points short, ending the evening at 58-56 for the Muleriders.

Jaedyn Getman got to work offensively, leading OBU with 17 points on the evening. Getman went 8-12 from the field, and 1-3 from the three.

Jill Leslie was the biggest defensive contributor with four blocks on the night and two steals. 

The green and gold struggled offensively going 23-62 from the field and 2-22 from the three. The bison went 8-12 from the line and tallied 38 points in the paint, and 33 bench points.

Next up for OBU is a Saturday afternoon matchup against Arkansas Monticello at 1 p.m.
