PITTSBURG, Kan. – The men of Bison Track and Field returned to Pittsburg State over the weekend for the Rumble in the Jungle Invitational. Competition ended with a handful of top-10 finishes for Oklahoma Baptist.
Senior
Steven Schmidt had one of OBU's best marks in the long jump. He reached 6.88 meter (22-6.75), good for fifth overall.
In the 60-meter hurdles,
Jentezen Smith was slotted eighth in the finals with a time of 8.39, a personal record. Smith also notched OBU's second 5th-place mark during the 600-yard run. The senior from Edmond crossed the finish line in 1:13.88.
During the one-mile run,
Maxamillian Wheeler finished sixth with a time of 4:18.74, just seven seconds behind first.
Emery Crayton earned 10th in the same event, recording a personal-best time of 4:21.27. Later, Crayton posted another PR in the 3,000 meter run (8:39.96) which was good for ninth while Wheeler completed the race in fifth (8:33.90).
The men's 600-yard run saw Smith claim fifth place with a time of 1:13.88.
Kahmai Flowers was slotted ninth, recording a personal-best time of 1:14.74.
The men's 4x400 relay saw four OBU teams compete, with its 'A' team of Smith,
Isaiah Willis,
Jared Cheatwood and
Kahmai Flowers delivering the Bison's best finish. With a mark of 3:19.51, that group claimed sixth overall.
Furthermore, Willis took 18th in the 200-meter dash at 22.19 while
Blayne Johnson crossed in 28th place with a time of 22.47.
Next up for the green and gold is the Washburn Open and Multis, taking place on Jan. 31 with a start time of 12 p.m.
