NORMAN – Freshman
Zavier Freeman posted a couple personal-bests for the men in green and gold during Friday afternoon's Owen Hewett Invite hosted by OU.
Freeman had a great outing, earning personal records in the shot put and weight throw. In the shot put, he took eighth with a heave of 13.73m. The freshman earned another PR in the weight throw with a fifth-place throw of 13.95m.
Bishop Gordon and
Steven Schmidt each posted fourth-place marks in the high jump, with Gordon clearing 1.93m while Schmidt reached 2.06m.
Isaiah Willis delivered the Bison's next best finish. In the men's long jump, he earned sixth place with a mark of 7.34m.
Among the other top finishes,
Karson Holsapple placed eighth with a heave of 14.33m in the shot put while Schmidt took 14th place (12.03m).
Also of note, the men's long jump event had several representatives for the green and gold.
Kaden Hooks,
Quintin Richardson and
Aaron Lyle all contributed to the OBU efforts with marks ranging from 6.27m to 5.86m.
Next up for the Bison is another trip to Kansas for the Rumble in the Jungle Invitational, hosted by Pittsburg State on Jan. 24.
