RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist freshman
Claire Stoermer was named Great American Conference Goalkeeper of the Week on Tuesday after an outstanding individual performance versus Midwestern State on Sept. 14.
She's the first freshman goalie to be honored since Ireland Jeffrey was recognized on Oct. 12, 2021.
Stoermer notched 10 saves against the Mustangs. Only two other Bison freshman have ever notched 10-plus saves in a match in the program's D2 history. Previously, program great Emily Griffith notched 11 against Southwestern Oklahoma State on Oct. 5, 2017 while
Mia Pendleton secured 10 in the spring GAC Tournament Championship on Apr. 17, 2021.
This season, Stoermer, a native of Tyler, Texas, ranks third in the GAC in saves (16) and saves per game (5.33).
