Bison Finish Second in GAC All-Sports Awards

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – For the third consecutive year, the Oklahoma Baptist athletic department earned second place among all league institutions in the Great American Conference's Commissioner's Cup and President's Trophy awards.

The Bison notched 90 points for both awards trailing Harding, who took top honors with 112.5 points in each.

Points for each award are earned based on each school's finish in sports that six or more schools sponsor within the GAC. The regular season standings determine the points awarded for sports with a round-robin schedule, while conference championships determine the points in sports without a regular-season format.

In the 2023-24 athletics cycle, Oklahoma Baptist saw its volleyball team co-share the league's regular-season title before winning the GAC Tournament. Plus, the women's track and field team claimed the GAC Outdoor Championship for the third consecutive year while soccer and softball won their respective regular seasons championships.

"I'm continually amazed by the commitment from our Bison student-athletes and coaches," Director of Athletics Robert Davenport said. "Their hard work and dedication have helped us remain one of the most consistently successful athletic departments not only in our league but in the region.  They have delivered year in and year out and I expect nothing less heading into the 2024-25 athletic cycle."

Additionally, women's cross country sent an individual to the NCAA Championship meet while both track and field programs had individual All-American finishes at the D2 Outdoor Championship. Other notables include the men's track and field team claiming runner-up at the GAC Outdoor Championship.
