SHAWNEE – Sophomore softball standout Ally Ryan was honored as an Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday after her excellence on and off the diamond this past season.
Ryan is the first Bison softball player in program history to collect the recognition, as she was named to the committee's third team.
Ryan is a Computer Information Systems major and boasted a 4.0 GPA for the 2023-24 academic cycle. The news comes after she garnered a nod on the CSC's All-District team for a second straight year.
The Frisco, Texas native was just as dominant on the field. Ryan broke the school record for home runs in a season (18), batted .309 and turned in a team-best slugging mark of .697. Additionally, she registered 47 hits while leading the team in RBI (50) and total bags (106).
Ryan went yard twice in a game on two occasions and charted 15 multi-RBI contests, including a six-RBI performance versus Southern Nazarene (3/12).
For her efforts, the slugger was awarded first-team All-GAC and D2CCA second-team All-Region honors.
Furthermore, she is the lone representative from the Great American Conference (GAC) on the 2024 CSC Academic All-America list and one of six from the Central Region.
