SHAWNEE – The College Sports Communicators Academic All-District teams were announced on Tuesday, and five Oklahoma Baptist softball players earned spots on the national list.
Ally Ryan, Emily Adler, Adi Reese, Sydney Adler, and Kayleigh Jones were the Bison honored by the CSC for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.
Ryan, Reese, and Jones were selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists, too, and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 18, 2024.
To qualify, a student-athlete had to have a 3.50 grade point average or higher, been of sophomore standing and have legitimate playing credentials.
Ryan paced OBU offensively with a school record in home runs (18), while maintaining a batting average of .309. She compiled 47 hits, 50 RBI, slugged .697, and earned an on-base percentage of .421.
Adler hit .316 while tallying 50 hits and scoring 39 runs. Additionally, she recorded 20 stolen bases and 13 sacrifice bunts.
Reese turned in a career-best batting average of .363 and charted 16 doubles to go along with four home runs. She also registered 53 hits, scored 37 runs, and went 10-for-11 in stolen base attempts.
S. Adler made 43 starts in 50 games and notched 23 hits with 19 RBI. Jones, the most decorated pitcher in school history, posted a 21-5 record and an ERA of 1.85.
The Claremore, Oklahoma recorded three no-hitters, struck out 247 batters, and limited opponents to a .178 batting average at the plate. Additionally, she compiled an outstanding WHIP of .95 in 185.2 innings of work.
There have only been two other CSC Academic All-District recipients in the program's Division II era, Reese and Gwyn Miller in 2023.
