Byrd Collects First Career All-America Recognition

SHAWNEE – Junior thrower Jade Byrd became the first Bison in the Division II era to reach All-American status in an outdoor field event as she earned first team honors at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships on Friday. 

Byrd recorded a hurl of 48.78m (160-0) in the discus, which placed seventh among the nation's best. It was her third-best throw during the outdoor season.

Also competing in the event was Flora Dupans, who took 17th in the with a mark of 43.85m (143-10). 

On Thursday, Anisha Henderson competed in the long jump and finished 19th after leaping 5.48m (17-11.75). 

Sophomore Jamora Horace will be the last Bison to participate this weekend, as she'll participate in the high jump tomorrow at 1:45 p.m.
