Max, Jones Earn All-America Honors

SHAWNEE – Kayleigh Jones and Morgan Max were recognized as All-America athletes by the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) on Thursday.

Jones earned a spot on the third team and Max collected an honorable mention selection.

It is the second All-America nod for Max this postseason, as she was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's (NFCA) second team on Wednesday.

For Jones, it is the third All-America accolade of her career on Bison Hill, a tie for the most national recognitions in school history (DII & NAIA).

Jones adds yet another distinguished award to her esteemed resume after posting another historic season. She turned in a 21-5 season and a 1.85 ERA across 185.2 innings of work while limiting opponents to a .178 batting average.

It is the third consecutive year the twirler has amassed 21 wins in a season. Jones added 247 strikeouts, which pushed her career total to 1,013, the most in program history.

Furthermore, Jones registered a school record of three no-hitters this season, which bumped her career total to seven. The Claremore, Oklahoma native finished her career with 86 wins and 31 shutouts in 757.1 innings of action.

Max joins her teammate as the second Bison in school history to become a two-time Division II All-American. It is the latest of her postseason accolades, including All-Region nods from the NFCA and D2CCA and being named the Great American Conference Player of the Year.

Max hit a team-best .370 with 54 hits, 42 RBI, eight home runs, and a .623 slugging percentage. Remarkably, she only struck out five times in 146 at-bats. She also smacked eight home runs, tallied 13 doubles, and scored 29 runs.

The junior pulled double duty with eight appearances in the circle, where she posted a 1.40 ERA and recorded two saves across 20.0 frames. Furthermore, she compiled 23 strikeouts, allowed just four earned hits, and held opposing squads to a .227 average at the plate.
