SHAWNEE – Jade Byrd and Flora Dupans broke program records in the hammer throw and shot put, respectively, to pace the Oklahoma Baptist women's track and field efforts at the OBU Last Chance meet last week.
Byrd shattered Julianna Horner's school record with a winning heave of 54.11m (177-6). Horner's mark (52.40m) was set during the 2020 outdoor season. She also added a win in the discus with a mark of 48.67m (159-8).
Dupans set a new program record for the third consecutive week, this time in the shot put with a first-place hurl of 14.62m (47-11.75). The sophomore, who owns the school's shot put and discus records, eclipsed her all-time mark of 14.21m (46-7.5) set at the 2024 GAC outdoor championships.
Jamora Horace won the high jump after clearing a career-best 1.73m (5-8), the second-highest leap in OBU history. At the time, the mark stood 10th in Division II.
In the long jump, Anisha Henderson reached 5.92m (19-5.25) to secure her fifth individual victory of the outdoor season, while Elisabeth Jones placed runner-up at 5.51m (18-1).
Olivia Tate posted a season-best legal time of 11.92 in the 100 meters, while Jones added a personal-best time (14.34) in the 100-meter hurdles that took second.
Delaney Riekert's 56.34 in the 400 meters finished second, while Mekenzie Connell won the crown in the 800 meters with a time of 2:13.48.
Zoee Weaver (2:16.37), Lauren Crouch (2:19.34), and Zoe Strange (2:33.47) claimed third through fifth in the race, respectively.
The 4x400 relay squad took top honors with a season-best time of 3:47.59. The quartet included Kelechi Christian, Kimberly McKinney, Shayna Hendrix, and Riekert.
