SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist men's track and field team wrapped up its final meet before nationals at the OBU Last Chance on Friday, where they charted multiple NCAA DII Provisional marks.
Among those was Sean Dixon's winning time of 52.38 in the 400-meter hurdles, which ranks 25th in DII. It is the second week in a row Dixon has set a new personal best in the event.
Jentezen Smith claimed second in the same affair in 52.61, which was also a personal best.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Boone Bennett took first at 14.39, while Caden Peevey collected his fourth win of the year with a 10.71 in the 100 meters.
Etienne James clocked a personal best time in the 800 meters, crossing the finish line in second at 1:59.94.
Elijah Wood won the discus with a heave of 41.44m (135-11), while Matthew Werschem took second at 38.83m (127-4). Werschem added another second-place nod in the hammer with a hurl of 46.10m (151-3).
Matthew Higdon won the hammer with the second-furthest throw of his career that reached 61.26m (201-0).
Wood charted another victory in the shot put with a mark of 14.60m (47-10.75), while Nathan Goodson cleared a personal-best 1.96m (6-5) to claim the high jump crown.
Rounding out the notable individuals were second-place finishes from Evan Olson in the javelin (61.29m; 201-1) and Isaiah Willis in the long jump (7.21m; 23-8).
The 4x400 relay team of Dixon, Willis, Peevey, and Marcus Petersen ran the 24th-fastest time in Division II at 3:10.61. The time finished second in the event.
