LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A day after being named the GAC Player of the Week on Monday, Oklahoma Baptist third baseman Ally Ryan became the first Bison in program history to take home the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week award this afternoon.
Ryan is the second to receive recognition from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association this season, joining teammate Kayleigh Jones, who captured pitcher of the week honors last week.
In a three-game sweep at Southwestern Oklahoma State, Ryan batted .556, launched four home runs, slugged 1.889 and recorded eight RBI. Her four long balls last weekend lifted Ryan's season total to 15, a new single-season record in OBU's Division II era.
Riding a six-game hitting streak and leading the Great American Conference in round trippers, the sophomore homered in each contest, sending two over the fence with four RBI in game two.
