LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Kayleigh Jones has earned another honor for her efforts last week as she was named the Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
The award is voted on by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II Top 25 Poll Committee from each of the NCAA's eight regions.
It is the third time Jones has been recognized by the national round table in her career. She was also named the GAC's Co-Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday for the fourth time this season.
Jones tossed two shutouts, including her seventh career no-hitter, in OBU's sweep of East Central last week. She racked up 18 strikeouts, surrendered just one hit and walked two batters over 14 innings.
The graduate opened the series with an 11-strikeout one-hitter that featured one walk. Then she recorded her third no-hitter this season in Friday's finale while punching out seven in and leading the Bison to a 4-0 victory.
