RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Trey Bartholomew earned his first career Great American Conference Field Athlete of the Week honor following an outstanding performance in Norman on Saturday, the league announced this afternoon.
Bartholomew claimed top honors in the high jump with a winning leap of 2.16m (7-1) at the John Jacobs Invitational, which broke OBU's 40-year-old program record. Mark Elliston set the previous mark at 2.15m (7-0.5) in 1984.
The clearance is currently fourth in the Division II track and gave the sophomore leaper his third NCAA DII provisional this season. Additionally, it was his second win of the year.
Earlier this spring, Bartholomew received his second indoor All-America honor with a sixth-place finish in the high jump at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Bartholomew and company return to their home track on Thursday for the Ford Mastin Twilight.
