WINGATE, N.C. – Another noteworthy accolade came to Oklahoma Baptist's
Isiah Lissade on Thursday. The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) selected OBU's second baseman as its Central Region Player of the Week.
He is the fourth Bison player to be recognized on the regional level. Last season,
Kade Self and
Jake Hamilton were chosen and in 2019, Brock Carter was honored.
Lissade's performances last week in games against No. 8 Missouri Southern and Northwestern Oklahoma State were incredible. Not only did he hit a staggering .688, the senior recorded multiple hits in every game, scored 10 runs, drove in six and finished with a 1.250 slugging mark.
His best effort was against the Lions, last week's mid-week affair. In a span of five frames, Lissade hit for the cycle, becoming OBU's first player in the D2 era to accomplish that.
So far this season, Lissade ranks third in the country with 34 hits, 11th in total bases (56) and 15th in runs scored (25). He leads the GAC with a .436 batting average and ranks seventh in slugging (.718) as well.
