RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist fifth-year pitcher
Kayleigh Jones earned her 15th overall Great American Conference Pitcher of the Week honor on Monday.
The accolade comes after Jones delivered a standout performance in the 8-0 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State on March 1.
In that contest, Jones tossed her fifth career no-hitter, most-ever in OBU history. She notched 11 strikeouts and just missed a perfect game as she issued a pair of walks.
Her 11 punchouts marked the fourth time this season she reached double-digit strikeout totals, and it was her 26th career shutout.
This season, the Claremore, Okla., native ranks second in the nation and first in the GAC with 89 strikeouts. Plus, she ranks third in the conference with six victories and first in hits allowed per seven innings (4.40) and complete games (6).
Jones and the rest of the Bison will return to competition on March 8-9 when they host Southeastern Oklahoma State.
