Tigers Take Series over Bison

ADA – East Central defeated Oklahoma Baptist 3-1 in the finale on Saturday at Ken Turner Field. With the win, the Tigers completed its first series victory over the green and gold for just the second time and first since the 2016 campaign.

The defeat moved OBU's record to 21-13 and 11-10 in the Great American Conference.

A few hits and a couple errors in the first provided all the run support the hosts needed to attain their eighth win of the season.

Nick Blankenship's RBI single started the scoring before two more hits came via Chris Griffis and Kale Williams. Those knocks reached left and right field, respectively, and with two outfield errors, two more runs came through.

Offensively for the Bison, they were held in check by ECU pitcher Cal Burchfield and his defense. OBU scored just once and collected six hits, its third-lowest total this season. Plus, Burchfield induced a combined 17 groundouts and fly-ball outs.

The Bison's lone run of the game came in the sixth. A two-out, RBI double by Will Joseph plated Jayden Shafer who had singled earlier in the frame.

OBU also did miss a good chance earlier when Joseph and Spencer Dickinson singled in the fourth. However, ECU got a strikeout to end that threat.

On the mound, Nolan Feazle was the bright spot of the game for OBU. He tossed six innings, allowed just one earned run, fanned a season-high seven batters and got seven fly-ball outs.

The Bison will look to rebound on April 2 at 6 p.m. when it hosts Northeastern State (17-17).
