DALLAS, Texas – Over the weekend, Oklahoma Baptist's STUNT program posted a 3-1 record at Dallas Baptist University.
The Bison opened competition on Feb. 16 with wins over St. Mary's and Kentucky. Then on Saturday, Feb. 17, OBU split games with a loss to California Baptist (23-6) and victory over Concordia University Irvine (22-5).
Head Coach
Jessica Stiles shared her thoughts on what she saw from her team's season-opening weekend:
"I am really excited with how our rookie team members handled not only their first STUNT games of the year, but also extremely high-pressure games to start off the season."
"In the win against Kentucky, the team rallied together to have some very strong fourth-quarter rounds to prevail. And then against a great CBU team, they held their composure and again, did a great job. The final score did reflect how close this game was," Stiles said.
Coming up next weekend, the Bison will host their annual tournament between Feb. 24-26. That will include matchups on the 25th versus Dallas Baptist and Oklahoma State as well as Monday games against Southern Nazarene and Alma.
"We'll go back to work this week to prepare for some really tough games at home. DBU is a strong conference team, D1 Oklahoma State is always extremely talented, newcomer SNU is off to a great start and Alma College from Michigan, the reigning D3 national champion, is traveling down for weekend games."
"In practices this week, we will continue to clean up the small, important details that make the differences in STUNT games as well as reflect on some things that need to change as we head into next week's games," Stiles added.
There will be 11 total games inside the Noble Complex starting next weekend. For those unable to attend, fans will be able to purchase day passes to watch the STUNT Invitational on the
Bison Sports Network.
