Schroeder Named GAC Player of the Week

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – For the first time in his illustrious career, Oklahoma Baptist catcher/designated hitter Alex Schroeder was selected as the Great American Conference's Player of the Week.

The weekly honor comes after the senior helped the Bison to a 4-0 record in a series against New Mexico Highlands. In the process of those four games, Schroeder became OBU's all-time career home runs leader.

Against the Cowboys, Schroeder batted .500, posted a team-high 1.250 slugging percentage with 15 total bases. He also drove in seven, scored a team-high seven runs and had 16 putouts with two assists and no errors from his catching position.

During the second contest against NMHU, Schroeder blasted two home runs and moved his career total to 48. That passed former Bison Josh Collazo who attained 46 homers during the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

So far this year, Schroeder ranks fifth in the country with four bombs, 16th with four doubles, third in RBI (15) and 14th in runs scored (11).
