PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Oklahoma Baptist women's track and field team recorded four NCAA Division II Provisionals over the weekend to highlight its action at Pittsburg State's 9th Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic.
The 4x400 relay squad of Delaney Riekert, Kimberly McKinney, Olivia Tate, and Kelechi Christian placed fourth at 3:50.20. It is the 33rd fastest time in the nation.
In the Distance Medley Relay, OBU's quartet finished sixth with a provisional time of 11:59.02. Mekenzie Connell, Riekert, Kaylen King, and Sophia Strange ran on that squad.
Headlining the field events were Flora Dupans and Anisha Henderson. Dupans claimed fifth in the shot put with a personal-best heave of 13.96m (45-9.75), the 26th-best mark in the country.
Henderson earned a provisional with a 5.68m (18-7.75) leap in the long jump, which placed fourth.
Jamora Horace turned in a second-place finish in the high jump after clearing 1.62m (5-3.75).
Kelechi Christian raced to fourth place in 7.63, the second-fastest time of her career. Trailing in eighth was teammate Olivia Tate with a time of 7.81. Christian also ran a 25.19 in the 200m, good for 12th.
Kimberly McKinney led a trio of top-10 Bison finishers in the 600-yard race. McKinney ran a personal best 1:26.75 for second, while Zoee Weaver (1:28.74) and Lauren Crouch (1:29.35 – PR) claimed fifth and sixth, respectively.
In the mile, Connell took 10th with a personal-best time of 5:03.02. Rounding out the notables was Sophia Strange's third place finish in the 3000m. Strange ran a personal-best 9:57.09, the 35th fastest time in Division II.
