OBU Women’s Basketball weathers Savage Storm in OT, maintaining perfect GAC record

SHAWNEE – Bison Women's Basketball took Southeastern Oklahoma State University to overtime, winning 86-82 to remain flawless in conference action.

The green and gold hosted the Storm for a Thursday night matchup that was every bit of a neck and neck battle. The 45-minute battle saw 12 lead changes and 11 ties. 

OBU Women's Basketball earned their third win in GAC play in overtime with a 86-82 final in favor of the Bison.

Collectively, the green and gold posted their best percentage from the field in overtime going 3-5 to post 80%. In the third quarter, the Bison were hot from the three, making four of six attempts. Throughout the duration on the game, OBU was consistent from the line, totaling 23 of 25 points from the charity stripe.

Similar to the most recent performance for the green and gold, the Bison posted an astonishing 46 bench points. OBU totaled 22 points in the paint, 15 second chance points and 11 points off turnovers. 

The Bison had a big defensive night with six blocked shots on the evening44 rebounds, 29 of which were defensive rebounds, and seven steals.

Mackenzie Crusoe amassed 25 points on the night to lead the green and gold in scoring. Crusoe went 9-19 from the field, 7-9 from the line and totaled two steals and one block across 37 minutes. 

Payten Conde had a night with seven total rebounds to share the leading stat line with Jill Leslie who also totaled seven rebounds. Conde shot 3-5 from the field, added two steals for the Bison and was perfect from the charity stripe at 6 for 6, totaling 13 points on the evening. 

Leslie's efforts consisted of a perfect 2-2 from the line, a contribution of five points and a solo blocked shot to round out the stats.

Freshman, Katelyn Davis was the second leading scorer for the Bison with 16 points on the night for a new career high. Davis also earned career highs in field goals made (5), and three-point field goals made (4). Davis went 5-8 from the field, 4-6 from the three and a perfect 2 for 2 from the line, continuing her reign as the GAC leader in free throws. 

Sierra Copeland also added onto the Bison success story with two blocks and two steals on the evening. 

Next up for the green and gold is a trip to Ada, Oklahoma, to take on East Central for a 5:30 p.m. meeting Saturday evening.
