ADA, Okla. – OBU Women's Basketball earned their fourth consecutive win in conference play, placing the green and gold in the lead for GAC standings.
The Bison got back to work Saturday evening securing a 69-50 win over East Central University.
The win over the Tigers saw the green and gold claim first place in the conference rankings with only one other women's team undefeated in the league. Harding sits in second with the same conference record, but Oklahoma Baptist takes the cake with an 8-2 overall record in comparison to Harding's 7-2 overall record.
In the Saturday evening meeting at ECU, OBU finished the night 45.9% from the field and 70% from the line. The Bison totaled 37 bench points, 28 points in the pain and 14 points off turnovers. The green and gold led the entirety of the evening.
Jaedyn Getman had her highest scoring appearance this season, totaling 20 points on the night. Getman went 8-11 from the field, 66% from the three and perfect from the charity stripe.
Making her return to ECU, this time in green and gold,
Mackenzie Crusoe totaled 14 points. Crusoe shot 70% from the field and totaled four steals, one shy of her season high (five steals vs Midwestern St. 11/21/24).
Another key player for OBU was freshman,
Allie Rehl. Rehl led the team in blocks, earning a new career high of three. The Tuttle, Okla., native, also earned new career highs in points (8), steals (1), shots made from the field (3), attempts from the field (8), and free throws made and attempted at two-a-piece.
The opening quarter ending with the Bison ahead by 10 points, 21-11, for their highest scoring quarter of the game. By half time, OBU had extended the lead to 17, and the Tigers never seemed to find their footing after that.
The largest lead of the night for the green and gold was an impressive 23-point difference. The best scoring run for the Bison consisted of 14 points in the second quarter.
After the win over ECU, Oklahoma Baptist is the only competitor in the league with undefeated men's and women's programs at 4-0 each.
Next up for OBU Women's Basketball is a trip to Weatherford. Dec. 19 will be the final game of the 2024 side of the season. With a 5:30 p.m. start time, the Bison will face Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Bulldog territory.
