Bison Haul in Six CSC Academic Awards

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Oklahoma Baptist women's soccer program was once again well-represented on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team announced this week.

Ashley Bell, Alanna Bloomingdale, Anna Branham, Hali White, Olivia Kenas and Lex Williamson were honored by the CSC. For Bloomingdale, it's her the third straight year she has earned the honor while Kenas has been recognized back-to-back years.

To qualify, a student-athlete had to have possessed at least a 3.50 grade point average, been of sophomore standing both academically and athletically and competed in 90 percent of the team's contests or started in 66 percent of them.

Bell is a nursing major from Richmond, Texas. A defender, she played and started all 19 matches for OBU, a career-high. Bell was a part of a Bison defense that earned seven shutouts, second-most in the GAC. She also finished with five assists, tied for the conference lead.

Bloomingdale was a key piece offensively for the green and gold. An exercise science major from Skiatook, Okla., she scored twice and notched four assists for eight points. That latter number was a top-10 conference mark. Historically speaking, she is the first Bison soccer player to earn three CSC Academic All-District certificates.

Joining the award list for the first time was Branham, White and Williamson. Another defender, Branham, an exercise science major, helped OBU to the third-best team goals against average mark (1.02) in the GAC. As for White, a business marketing major, her two game-winning goals ranked second in the conference. Williamson started in all 19 matches and scored three times and ranked sixth in the league in shots. The exercise science major was also an All-GAC First Team member.

Rounding out OBU's honorees was Kenas. The Wichita, Kansas native and biology major had a standout final year for the Bison. She scored four goals, a top-five GAC mark and finished with nine points. During the season, Kenas became the first conference player to ever hold GAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors at the same time (Oct. 8). She was also a fabulous defender and helped OBU reach its eighth-straight GAC Tournament final and finish the year on an eight-match unbeaten streak.
