SHAWNEE – The green and gold are 1-1 after the opening weekend of action on the road.
OBU Women's Basketball kickstarted their season at the GAC-MIAA Challenge, hosted by Rogers State University.
The Bison opened the weekend against the host Friday night. Rogers State claimed a 62-48 victory over the OBU. The green and gold got back to work Saturday afternoon, taking on Northeastern State University. OBU secured their first win with a 80-49 victory over the Riverhawks to close out the weekend 1-1.
OUB vs RSU
In her first season for OBU,
Mackenzie Crusoe led the Bison with 14 points and seven rebounds on the evening.
Sydney Duncan tallied nine points, going 3-5 in the field and 3-5 from the three.
Parker Stevenson totaled eight points on the night. Stevenson led the Bison with two steals and three assists.
The first half of play saw a neck-and-neck battle between the two tying the first quarter 14-14 and going into the half with a one-point lead for RSU, 24-23. Headed into the half down by one, the Bison had compiled seven fast break points to RSU's total of three.
The third quarter saw the green and gold back in business going 8-15 in the field and 4-10 from the three. OBU took the lead headed into the fourth, this time with the one-point advantage at 43-42. The final quarter saw the Hillcats take over going 7-14 in the field, and 2-5 from the three to shut down the green and gold's efforts. A 20-point fourth quarter for the home team sealed OBU's fate with a 62-48 final in favor of RSU.
OBU vs NSU
Saturday afternoon saw the Bison turn things around with a big win over NSU. The loss the night before couldn't keep the green and gold down long.
Crusoe led the offensive efforts for OBU, totaling 16 points. The newcomer for the Bison went 4-9 in the field, 2-5 from the three and remained perfect from the free throw line, going 6-6.
Kennedy Large pulled some weight for the green and gold as well with 14-point son the night to for 5-9 from the field, 2-5 from the three and also remain perfect, 2-2 at the charity stripe. Large led the team in rebound with three offensive rebound and five defensive rebounds. Freshman,
Katelyn Davis also had a night with 11 points, going 4-6 in the field, 1-2 from the three and also remaining perfect at the free throw line, with a pair of steals in addition to her offensive contributions.
Payten Conde led the team with three steals, totaling nine points to go 50.00% in the field, 33.33% from the three and 100% from the charity stripe.
The Bison had a strong start, securing a 42-19 lead in the first half. In the opening frame, the green and gold were 5-13 in the field to see OBU ahead 12-9. The Bison did damage, putting up 30 points in the second quarter. In the second stanza, the green and gold totaled seven points off turnovers, eight fast break points and 14 points from the bench. The Bison did not slow down in the third quarter, going 40.00% in the field, 25.00% from the three and remaining perfect at the free throw line, putting up another 20 points to bury the Riverhawks, 62-31. The final frame saw the Bison 27-61 in the field, 12-32 from the three and 14-14 from the charity stripe. Each team tallied 18 points in the closing quarter but the green and gold were out of sight for NSU. The 80-49 final was the highest scoring game for the Bison so far in the regular season.

Next up for OBU Women's Basketball is a home game Monday evening with a 7 p.m. start time. The green and gold will host UT Dallas in Noble Complex for the first regular season meeting at home this season.
