Preview: Ouachita at Oklahoma Baptist

SHAWNEE – The second matchup between Ouachita and Oklahoma Baptist comes Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 3 p.m. Earlier this season, the Bison gained a 1-0, second-half advantage before the Tigers rallied to defeat the green and gold 2-1.

Ouachita's win was its ninth in the 23 all-time meetings between the schools. The Bison lead the series 12-9-2. That said, the Tigers have fared well in Shawnee. In fact, Ouachita holds a 6-4-2 record advantage when playing on Bison Hill.

Last week, the Bison fell at Southern Nazarene, 1-0, before playing Northwestern Oklahoma State to a 1-1 tie on Oct. 19. Those results moved the team's record to 3-6-3 overall and 2-3-2 in GAC play.

With five conference matches left, the Bison are in a tie for fourth in the standings with Southwestern Oklahoma State. Each team has eight points. The top four teams in the GAC qualify for the postseason tourney set to start in mid-November.

Here are notes on both teams heading into the contest.

Tigers Notes
  • Ouachita is in first place of the GAC with a 4-1-2 record, good for 14 points. Overall, the Tigers are 5-5-2.
  • Last weekend, they dialed up a 3-1 win at home against East Central.
  • The Tigers have one of the best offensive players in league with Teagan Jaussi. She leads with 10 points, is tied with Bloomingdale with four assists and ranks tied for first with a pair of game-winning goals.
  • In the previous matchup with Oklahoma Baptist, the Tigers got goals from McKenna Wright and Allison Reece.
  • Ouachita's lead goalie is Carina Chavarria. She's fifth with a 1.579 goals against average but seventh with a .727 save percentage.
