Bison Represent Well at Pitt State, SNU

SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist women's track and field competed at Pittsburg State's Rumble in the Jungle Invitational and Southern Nazarene's SNU Invitational over the weekend.

RUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE INVITATIONAL

Junior Anisha Henderson placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 5.54m (18-2.25). Elisabeth Jones trailed in 10th after jumping 5.19m (17-0.5).

Jamora Horace rounded out the notable field event participants with an eighth-place finish in the high jump. Horace cleared 1.60m (5-3), the third-best mark in her indoor career. 

Freshman Mekenzie Connell led the Bison with a personal-best time of 5:05.49 in the mile that placed third. Finishing in ninth was Kaylen King's time of 5:24.70.

In the 600-yard run, Delaney Riekert and Kimberly McKinney turned in personal-best times that placed fifth and sixth. Riekert ran a 1:26.37 while McKinney crossed in 1:28.17. 

Zoee Weaver collected a sixth-place finish in the 800m at 2:19.84, while Kelechi Christian claimed sixth in the 60m dash (7.73). 

Elisabeth Jones ran the 60m hurdles in 9.12, good for sixth place, while Valerie Olson finished moments later at eighth (9.41). 

Sophia Strange took seventh in the 3000m (10:13.79), ahead of teammate Jade Robinson's 10:27.25 that placed 11th. 

In the 4x400, the quartet of McKinney, Olivia Tate, and Riekert placed fourth with a time of 3:54.93.

SNU INVITATIONAL

Flora Dupans won the shot put with a personal-best indoor heave of 12.84m (42-1.5). It was the best indoor mark by a Bison since 2021. 

Jade Byrd placed sixth in the weight throw with a mark of 14.92m (48-11), the third-longest throw in her indoor career. 

Maya Sullivan seventh-place finish in the pole vault (3.06m, 10-0.5). 

Kyndall Hicks ran a 9.04 in the 60m hurdles to place second, while Tabitha Sparks finished seventh in the 200m after running a 26.90. It was the highest individual placing of Hicks' career.

Oklahoma Baptist returns to Kansas for the Wendy's/Pittsburg State Invitational on Jan. 27.
