Bartholomew, Bison Shine in Kansas and Norman

SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist men's track and field team competed at Pittsburg State's Rumble in the Jungle Invitational and Southern Nazarene's SNU Invitational over the weekend.

RUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE INVITATIONAL

Sophomore Trey Bartholomew led the Bison in Kansas with a first-place finish in the high jump. He cleared 2.13m (6-11.75) and broke the meet record. It is the highest clearance by a Bison in the Division II era and the best since 2010. Additionally, the mark met the Division II provisional standard.

Isaiah Willis placed third in the long jump with a leap of 6.85m (22-5.75) to round OBU's notables in the field events.

Sean Dixon and Joshua Miller placed ninth in their respective events, the 400m dash and 60m hurdles. Dixon clocked a 49.40, while Miller ran a personal-best 8.65 in his hurdles debut.

Marcus Petersen and Jentezen Smith finished sixth (1:13.14) and eighth (1:13.80) in the 600-yard run, respectively. Both times were personal best for the runners the fastest since 2021.

In the 800 meters, Emmett Murphy notched a seventh-place finish with a time of 1:54.71.

Two Bison, Carson Kardokus and Ethan Banks, collected top-10 nods in the mile. Kardokus completed the event in 4:16.39 for fifth place, while Banks ran a personal best time of 4:20.24 to place ninth.

Maxamillian Wheeler turned in a personal-best mark of 8:22.21 to place fourth in the 3000m. The time broke the 11-year-old Oklahoma Baptist indoor record, held by Adam Godwin (8:22.26 – 2013), and the Rumble in the Jungle meet record (8:31.70), set by Wheeler a season ago. James Williams (14th – 8:48.13) and Emery Crayton (15th – 8:50.99) were other notables competing in the race.

In the 4x400 relay, the Dixon, Smith, Petersen, and Murphy quartet placed second at 3:16.60.

SNU INVITATIONAL

Alexander Schovanec highlighted the Bison's efforts at the SNU Invitational, earning third and fourth-place finishes in the shot put and weight throw, respectively.

Schovanec charted a mark of 15.03m (49-3.75) in the shot put and a season-best 16.11m (52-10.25) in the weight throw.

Freshman Matthew Werschem also placed in the top 10 of the weight throw with a personal-best heave of 15.43m (50-7.5) that placed seventh.

Anthony Phillips took seventh in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.40m (14-5.25), while freshman Nathan Goodson placed seventh in the high jump. Goodson leaped 1.90m (6-2.75) in his Bison debut.

In the 60m hurdles, Boone Bennett and Aaryn Anderson finished third and fourth, respectively. Bennett ran a personal-best 8.22 while Anderson crossed the finish line at 8.33.

Caden Peevey placed seventh in the 200m with a time of 23.30.
