BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – Morgan Becker tied for second amongst a 90-player field to lead Oklahoma Baptist to a sixth-place finish at the Central Region Fall Preview on Wednesday.
OBU turned in a 43-over 619 total card after cutting their strokes by seven in the final round to score 306 (+6) and finish 19 strokes behind first-place Augustana.
In the Division II era, Becker's placing is the highest finish from a Bison golfer at a regular season tournament outside of the annual OBU Invitational. Furthermore, Becker's 36-hole performance earned Oklahoma Baptist its best finish at the Central Region tournament in program history.
Becker carded a 148 (+4) to lock in a three-way tie for second, three strokes behind Lily Allman of Missouri Southern, whose 145 (+1) won the tournament. Becker opened with a 1-over 73 on Tuesday before closing with a 75 (+3).
Additionally, it is Becker's third time to place within the top five and the fourth time to finish a tournament four strokes over par or less in her career.
Behind Becker in a tie for 20th was freshman Morgan Simmons, who shot a 154 (+10) after carding rounds of 76 (+4) and 78 (+6).
Sam Lehr trailed Simmons by two strokes, firing a 156 (+12) after posting a final round 5-over 77 for a tie at 28th. Gimena Errecart's play improved drastically on day two, as she cut her strokes by nine to finish in a tie for 42nd with a total score of 161 (+17).
Rounding out the Bison participants were Ramsey Gunter and Valentina Nunez-Butzonitch. Gunter claimed a tie at 59th with a 167 (+23), while Nunez-Butzonitch finished in a tie for 77th after carding a 174 (+30).
Oklahoma Baptist returns to the course on Monday, Sept. 11, for the opening round of the NSU Women's Classic in Tahlequah, Okla. The tournament will be played the Club at Indian Springs.
