RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Following the first week of competition, Oklahoma Baptist golfer Morgan Becker was named the Great American Conference Golfer of the Week, the league announced Thursday afternoon.
Becker has been named the league Golfer of the Week four times, a feat she earned three times as a true freshman a season ago. It is the most conference of-the-week honors by a Bison golfer in program history.
On Wednesday, the sophomore led OBU to its highest place in school history at the Central Region Fall Preview as she finished in a tie for second among a 90-player field. Becker fired rounds of 73 (+1) and 75 (+3) to shoot 4-over-par (148) for the tournament, only three strokes behind the event's winner.
It is Becker's third time to place within the top five and the fourth time to finish a tournament four strokes over par or less in her career. Furthermore, it is the highest finish from a Bison golfer at a regular season tournament outside of the annual OBU Invitational in the Division II era.
Becker and company return to the greens on Monday, Sept. 11, at the NSU Women's Classic in Tahlequah, Okla.
