BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The Oklahoma Baptist women's golf team opened its 2023 season at the Central Region Fall Preview on Tuesday and are in seventh place after one round of play.
OBU shot 313 (+25) to slot seven spots behind first-place Augustana, who finished 13-over par (301) after 18 holes. The Bison stand as the second-best of Great American Conference participating teams, trailing only Southwestern Oklahoma State who shot two strokes better (311) to sit in sixth.
Leading OBU in the inaugural round was Morgan Becker, whose 1-over 73 was good for a six-way tie at third. Freshman Morgan Simmons followed in 18th after a 76 (+4) card, while Sam Lehr's 7-over 79 landed at 35th.
Rounding out the OBU entrees in the first round were Ramsey Gunter, Gimena Errecart, and Valentina Nunez-Butzonitch. Gunter, competing as an individual, carded a 9-over 81 for 42nd while Errecart shot an 85 (+13) to finish the round at 65th. Nunez-Butzonitch turned in a 92 (+20), suitable for 86th heading into round two.
Oklahoma Baptist returns for the closing round at Adams Point Golf Club tomorrow.
