SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist University Athletics Department is pleased to announce its 2023 Hall of Fame class. Volleyball's Sabra Clark, track and field's Akela Jones, baseball's Matt Page and track and field's Stacy Warrior will be formally inducted at a ceremony inside the Mabee Suite on Sept. 29 during Hall of Fame Weekend.
With these four, OBU's Hall of Fame will grow to 145 members.
Clark was one of the best setters in school history. She holds the top-three single-season assists-per-set averages, and her 4,406 career assists are tops in program history by nearly 2,100. Also of note, her 63 assists versus Wayland Baptist on Oct. 22, 2010, were the second-most in a single match in school history.
Her accolades run deep: Clark was a 2012 NAIA Third Team All-American, a four-time Sooner Athletic Conference First Team selection and was the league's Setter of the Year in 2012. Plus, Clark was the SAC's Freshman of the Year in 2009 and earned the SAC Tournament MVP award in 2012. In the classroom, she was a two-time Collegiate Sports Information Directors of American Academic All-District selection.
Representing the Bison track and field teams are Jones and Warrior.
Jones is a part of nine school records and much more. Included in those are the indoor and outdoor records in the high jump and long jump. Plus, she has the fastest times in the 100- and 60-meter hurdles as well as the most points in the pentathlon. On top of her OBU records, she was a two-time NAIA National Champion in the triple jump, long jump and hurdles events. Jones was also named the Most Outstanding Performer at four NAIA National Meets.
Furthermore, Jones competed in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and was a World Junior long jump champion.
For Warrior, she won multiple national titles. Those included being a three-time champion in the indoor and outdoor 4x400 as well as a pair of national titles in the 4x100. Warrior also garnered two championships in the 400, was a 24-time All-American and held a Drake Relays record in the spring medley.
As for Warrior's record-setting performances at OBU, she is a part of five school records. Three of those come in the outdoor season: 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relays.
OBU's final Hall of Fame honoree is Page. His numbers speak for themselves: his 78 runs scored in 2014 were tied for second-most all-time. During the 2013 campaign, he notched 85 runs batted in, another mark that's second-most. As a senior in 2014, Page's 26 two-baggers tied him for fourth all-time in single season history while his 59 walks ranked tied for second.
By the end of his career, Page left with 169 RBI, tied for third all-time, and 46 doubles. That latter total ranks second in OBU history. Plus, he ranks in the top-ten with 26 homers. On top of those numbers, he was a two-time Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Year, the 2013 NAIA Player of the Year, and a two-time NAIA All-American. Furthermore, he was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 10th round of the 2014 MLB Draft.
The inductees will also be honored during halftime of the OBU versus Henderson State football game on Sept. 30. All previous OBU Hall of Fame inductees are invited back to attend as well. For more info, contact
