Two Lone Star State Opponents on Deck for OBU

SHAWNEE -- The Bison head off to North Texas this week to face Midwestern State University on Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. Then on Saturday the 16th, they will go up against No. 8 Dallas Baptist University. OBU currently has one win and three losses, while MSU sits at 1-1-2.  Meanwhile, DBU boasts a 2-0-1 mark.

Bison Notes
●      Alanna Bloomingdale has both goals for OBU this year, securing them in the 2-1 upset win at Central Oklahoma last weekend. She was named GAC Player of the Week for her efforts.
●      Two freshman, Brae Baker and Hali White, have taken a team-high four shots on-goal. For Baker, she has the team's lone assist of 2023.
●      OBU's defense was outstanding at UCO this past Saturday. They didn't allow a single shot on-goal in the first half.
●      Senior goalie Mia Pendleton has made 24 saves this year. Her 6.0 saves per game is second-best in the GAC.
●      This will be the fourth matchup all-time with Midwestern State. In 2017, the Mustangs won 3-2 before the Bison secured a 2-0 result in Shawnee during the 2018 campaign. Most recently, the two squads played to a 1-1 draw on Sept. 11, 2019 in Wichita Falls.
●      Senior midfielder and three-time All-GAC honoree Kaylee Swaner, who missed the first four matches this year, is expected to play.

Midwestern State Notes
●      MSU was picked to finish in seventh in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll.
●      Like the Bison, the Mustangs' offense has gotten off to a slow start, totaling three goals so far.
●      Coach Ryan Spence's team is coming off a 2-1 win over Western Colorado on Sept. 10.
●      Lexi Beck, who leads the team with two goals, was named a LSC Player to Watch last month.
●      Also joining that list are Janae Sanchez and goalie Lexi Jackson.
●      For Jackson, she has only faced 40 shots through four contests and has registered seven saves and allowed five goals.
●      Redshirt freshman McKenna Jenkins has the team's one assist this year.

Dallas Baptist Notes
●      The Patriots were ranked No. 8 by the United Soccer Coaches in its most recent poll.
●      DBU has not lost yet (2-0-1) and is coming off a 2-2 tie versus No. 7 Colorado School of Mines.
●      Through three matches, the Patriots have tallied 10 goals, ranking tenth in the country.
●      Nine different players have tallied goals, led by Taylor Tufts who has scored twice.
●      Tufts also has the most shots on-goal with five and four helpers.
●      Also aiding DBU on the offensive end is Michelle Gonzalez. A 2022 All-American, she has two assists.
●      Goalie Carmen Lopez has started all three matches for DBU. Her goals against average mark of 1.12 is third-best in the LSC.  Her save percentage of .800 is also fifth-best.
●      DBU is one of the premier programs in the country, having made the NCAA Tournament's "Sweet 16" the last four seasons. That included a Final Four trip during the 2021 season when they posted a 20-4 record.
●      In series history, the Patriots are 4-0 against the Bison.
